Healthy Food Swaps
I don’t believe in restrictive diets or not enjoying your favorite meals. There is a way to still enjoy all of your favorite foods by making smarter choices. Below are some of my favorite healthy food swaps:
- White potato to sweet potato
- White rice to brown rice or quinoa
- White pasta to whole wheat pasta, brown rice pasta, ezekiel pasta or zucchini noodles
- Bread crumbs to almond meal or ground oats
- Sugar to coconut sugar, rice malt syrup or raw honey
- Milk chocolate to dark chocolate
- Roasted, salted nuts to organic, raw unsalted nuts
- Potato chips to kale chips
- White salt to pink himalayan sea salt
- Vegetable oil to cold pressed olive oil or unrefined coconut oil
- Margarine to grass-fed butter
- Mayonaisse to greek yogurt
- Soft drinks to water with fresh lemon
- Milk to almond milk, coconut milk or oat milk
- Meat for grass-fed organic meat
- Soy sauce for tamari
- Store-bought salad dressing to cold pressed olive oil and vinegar
