My Tips for Staying Healthy During Winter Season + A Giveaway
I love winter so much – the cozy vibes of sitting by a fireplace and sipping on hot chocolate in my slippers. Unfortunately, with that also comes stuffy noses & sore throats. I eat very healthy and consume tons of vegetables. I also get plenty of sleep and rarely drink alcohol. The only time I drink is having one glass of wine on date night with my husband. However, no matter how healthy I am, it is inevitable that I’m going to get sick every now and then.
When we get sick we just want to feel better as soon as possible. I want to share some of my tips for getting over a cold naturally plus ways to help prevent getting sick.
Eat lots of fruits and veggies: Fruits and vegetables are loaded with essential vitamins and minerals that your body needs to fight off illness. I make sure to have a serving of vegetables with every meal including breakfast. Some great ways of sneaking vegetables into your diet is by tossing a handful of spinach into your smoothie or adding broccoli to your scrambled eggs. I snack on fruit throughout the day as well.
Get plenty of rest: I notice a huge difference in the way I feel when I don’t get enough sleep at night. I feel run down and am definitely more prone to getting sick. Shoot for 7 – 8 hours of sleep per night and you’ll notice a huge difference. Not getting enough sleep can lower your immune system, which is critical in helping to fight off the flu and the common cold.
Sip on Traditional Medicinals teas: I recently discovered Traditional Medicinals organic teas in the tea aisle at Walmart. Traditional Medicinals is the only US Tea company committed to using Pharmacopoeial grade herbs and is 100% non-GMO and 98.9% of botanical raw ingredients used are certified organic. These herbal teas are a healthy beverage that contains healing qualities and is a natural remedy. They are the perfect remedy for soothing your body if you do get ill and will quickly get you closer to feeling your best. Don’t underestimate the power of plants to help you live a naturally healthy life. This tea is affordable and is a quality product that I highly recommend.
Add echinacea to your diet: Traditional Medicinals teas come in a variety of flavors, but I’ve been loving the Organic Echinacea Plus tea. This tea has a mildly minty flavor with a twist of citrus. Echinacea boosts the immune system and is also known to reduce the symptoms of the cold, flu and other illnesses. Echinacea is also an anti-inflammatory and can help to improve skin problems ranging from eczema to psoriasis.
I hope these tips help keep you healthy throughout the winter season! I’d love for you to be able to try these teas, so for a chance to win a $250 gift card to Walmart enter here:
