Vegan Turmeric Latte
I have an afternoon routine that I’ve been wanting to share with you! Around 2:30/3pm I put Emma down for her afternoon nap. I’m extremely lucky that she’s always been an awesome napper and takes a 2 hour nap every afternoon. After I get Emma down I run to my room, change into the comfiest outfit I can find and then make my way to the kitchen. This is my snack time that I love so much!
As a mama to an almost one year old, I can’t really eat in peace anymore! Emma is always crawling all over me and trying to eat everything I’m eating. Trust me, I love that Emma is willing to try all my food and I love sharing with her, but sometimes it’s REALLY NICE to just eat alone in peace. Emma, if you ever read this one day I love you dearly and don’t take offense to this, haha. Anyway, I make a snack – usually a piece of avocado toast, a healthy homemade muffin, a yogurt with fruit and granola or one of my favorite granola bars (oh hey Perfect Bar, Squarebar, Larabar and MacroBar). In addition to my snack I’ve been whipping up a turmeric latte (people often call this a ‘golden milk latte’ because the color is golden).
I take my snack and turmeric latte to the couch, turn on a show and enjoy a few minutes of quiet time. It’s truly magical…
I’ve tried about 15 different combinations for this turmeric latte. It took a few weeks, but I found my favorite combination that I’ve become absolutely obsessed with! I look forward to sitting down with it every afternoon and savoring each sip.
This latte is made with almond milk, but you can make it with coconut milk or regular milk and it’ll taste just as delicious! Obviously if it’s made with regular milk it’s no longer vegan though. This tonic is packed with so many amazing ingredients such as MCT oil (gives you more brain power than caffeine), manuka honey, reishi mushroom (optional, but an amazing superfood), turmeric, cinnamon and ginger.
Turmeric is known for its powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Turmeric can also help to fight depression and relieve liver problems! It also tames heartburn and an upset stomach. Not only does turmeric have numerous health benefits, but it also adds flavor and color to this drink!
Make this magical elixir a part of your afternoon ritual – it’ll calm your mind and nourish your body!
